Making Money On Amazon
Amazon is an online mega company that sells books, CD’s, DVD’s, electronic goods, and toys and games. It is a five billion dollar a year business, accessed by millions of people the world over and captures 5% of world internet sales!
But what many people don’t realise is that you can use Amazon to sell used books and make a great part time income.
You can have access to the millions of customers who search Amazon’s virtual book shelves for books of all kinds. And amazon actually encourage you to sell. It makes complete commercial sense - they make a small fee for each book you sell. And there’s no listing charges either.
This is such a big opportunity to make money. One out of 12 books sold is a used book, with total annual sales estimated to be in the region of £300 million. Last year, used book sales on the internet grew by 33%!
Second hand books are easy to pick up from anywhere - car boots, markets, library sell offs, as well as raiding your own shelves and lofts. Don’t forget to check the bargain bins when you’re out, and you could even sell the free books you get from book clubs too.
To start, visit Amazon by clicking the banner below, and register with them as a new customer. Click on the “Your Account” in the toolbar, where you’ll be taken through a step by step process to register. You will need an email address and a nickname.
To actually start trading with them, you’ll need to register your home address, credit card and bank account details with them, as Amazon will only pay you by bank payments, straight into your bank. That done, the final stage of registering as a seller with them is that Amazon will ask you for a verification phone number. This is where Amazon will automatically call you and ask you to type in the four figure verification code on your screen, generated naturally as you work your way through the registration process.
If you plan on selling lots of items, you can purchase an Amazon merchant account in return for a monthly fee which makes it far easier for you to list muliple items at the same time and the merchant account gives you lower commission fees when your books sell.
As an online book seller, there’s no face to face or telephone contact with your customers. There’s no need for premises or staff. You can work at times to suit you. You don’t need a website either, which is especially beneficial for new businesses.
And all this means that you’ll be advertising to millions worldwide without spending a penny in advertising!
